DRIVEN
My 1200 got mid 40s when I first got it on the road with stock A12 / 5-speed / 3.90s and 195/45-14s. Previous owner swore it averaged over 50mpg driving cross country in the mid 1970s. After I put in the A15 and mikunis it gets mid 30s. I'm putting in some 3.70 gears next week (hopefully) and will be on the lookout for some 3.54s. Quote Link to comment
blownb310
1977 -- only the 65 HP lo-po models I was inspired by this ad and set out to beat it with my B210. Getting the big numbers is firstly dependant how you drive the car. You need to be versed in hyperpermiling driving techniques. This along with the right modifications to the car can yield big gains. I was able to get 77.04 mpg after many mods. Mike Quote Link to comment
Nicholas7620
I get 28 in town, 32 Highway, long trips say to Tahoe and back 36. How to compute mileage: fill up, write down mileage reading from dashboard. drive 200-300 miles, fill up, write down mileage, write down gallons purchased determine miles driven, say 300 divide 300 by gallons purchased say 10 Gallons 300/10 = 30 miles per gallon.
