Is this a 5 Speed??

Just want to make sure since I can't see any markings from these pics.

 

 

 

Has 60 stamped on the passenger side.

The tail end ^^^^^ looks a little different than this one.

My guess is the dirty one is a 4 spd.

What are these transmissions out of? I am not used to seeing the clutch slave and arm on that side.

The 2nd post pic is a 5 speed for sure. I used to own it. It's going into a midget roadster.

I would say 5speed. Can you tip it away and shoot this side closer to the bottom ?

 

Is it sitting on the drain plug on the under side in the above picture? If it is it's most likely a 5 speed.

 

This is a 4 speed below: Note the drain bung points to the rear. The 5 speed points down. Also the 4 spd. reverse switch above the drain (the one without the red tape) is more forward than the picture you posted

Thanks for the info Mike. The tranny isn't in my hands yet. I might go take a look at it tomorrow. The odd thing is you stated the oil drain bung should be pointing down for a 5 speed?

This is a 5 speed that has it pointing back.

Ah.... yes. The drain pointing down is an FS5W60A drain pointing back is an FS5W60L. The 4 and 5 spd. 60 series are all but identical. Except that:...

 

Generally a 5 speed has a 'fuller' body just behind the adapter plate that bolts the front to the tail stock to accommodate the 5th gear. The 4 speed is thinner in this area.

 

 

Jefe, is yours a dogleg pattern by any chance???

The cleaner tranny pic I posted is a 5 speed with the dogleg shift pattern.

Good. As I understand it the L means dogleg the A is the standard pattern.

Turns out it's a 4 speed.
