hitch
She is on the way home from school. "My car sounds funny" What does that mean? Describe the noise, "I don't know, its loud" Is there smoke? "No" Does it smell funny? "No" What actually belongs in the hole? I think it was just a plug before that has blown out. I'm BLUE
 ,,,, Check your coolant level right away after plugging that ! Is it for temperature sender ? cooling sensor ? Quote Link to comment
hitch
Nope, coolant is fine, it is exhaust that comes out of the hole. I would have been very unhappy if she had run it out of coolant. It does look like it would be for coolant though since it is part of the radiator return. It is probably something from emissions that was plugged years ago. there is a small plate covering a spot on the air cleaner, I'll bet it connected to that. Quote Link to comment
CharlieBucket
I just replaced mine and that hole gave me a bit of a problem. Nothing really but i had to plug it with a bolt i found at homedepot. my old one was plugged with a bolt aswell, but the old bolt didn't fit the new Termastat housing. Anyway, don't know why it's there, but plug it up! Quote Link to comment
hitch
I found it here, post 19 http://community.ratsun.net/topic/24656-a14-pictures/ Looks like it connected to the air cleaner. Might have been a California emissions thing, as the blocked plate on my air cleaner looks factory. Oh well, thanks to ACE, one pipe plug and some anti seize and it is repaired. Quote Link to comment
ggzilla
That is the air induction fitting. The air pump output goes there. If it doesn't have an air pump, then it is a static air induction. Quote Link to comment
