millican
How well do the 6x9 boxes work? I'm not looking for jackass class bass, just to be able to hear a wider range of the notes that were in the original recording (often just a podcast of some cyclists talking). The little speakers in the front just don't do that with the low-frequency filters that keep them from disintegrating with my mega-massive $20 40-watt amplifier. 6x9s would probably work, but how well do they work when boxed? zianian
They work OK milli. Music used to rule my world. Not so much anymore. Like you say not booming bass but if you just want decent sound they will do. I found the boxes close by home on craigslist for $15 a while back. The 6x9's got at yardsale down in NC a longer while back along with head unit and another single speaker. $20 for all of it. Had it all mounted in some homemade boombox type a deal for a long while (see below). Then I got me a Datsun. Love the sound of the motor but tunes are good now and then too. Took apart the boom box and threw it in the Datsun. Blew a 6x9 a lil while back and just ordered some good ones (I think) (will let ya know) on eBay for about $90. Rockford Fosgates... I think. Front set of speakers (zip tied and taped in thank you very much) $15... yup... yardsale. Oh.. the boom boxes Power Supply (battery charger) $8 Yardsale... where else? 35 pounds of.... BOOM Quote Link to comment

rayven14
To tear the whole damn thing down again, media blast the entire car (under, over inner) full cage, no back seat, four link (its a wagon) air bags on all four corners, Make it a two door, Recaro Racing acing buckets up front, Buy a banging ass 2.3 from Troy (with my fuel injection setup and an updated stand alone system from megasquirt OR... a sweet as turbo setup. Remake a sweeter dash A new filler neck that will actually let me put gas in the car A sweet ass sound system (one ten, four mids and some sweet ass tweets) That's it .. for now. zianian
How well do the 6x9 boxes work? I ended up putting the new speakers in the boxes the same day I "blew up my rear diff" (false alarm). I did notice as I was testing connection and had the music going just a lil bit... as I slipped the speaker into the box the bass got MUCH better. I imagine depending on the speaker brand and type being in a box would give much better bass then hanging from some metal tin firing into/out of an unsealed enclosure... trunk for example. 6x9 boxes can boom... a lil.
