datsunaholic
Not positive on how it works on a 521, but on everything else, the Choke only gets power when the engine is running. The choke heater is powered by the relay, which in turn is powered only when the engine is running (not just with the key on). It is sensed via the alternator- so, the choke heater only works when the alternator is charging. This is done through the voltage regulator. When the alternator light is on, the choke is off. The idea there was to keep the choke from heating up if you just turned on the key- the choke is supposed to heat up as the engine heats up. Quote Link to comment
