dbuzz77
I'm pretty sure i know what the problem is, when the engine is warmed up (71 521 manual choke) you drive away, it runs fine. you come to a stop, it idles high maybe 1300rpm. you kick the throttle, it goes to 7 or 800 where i set it. the carb had a kit done but correct me if i'm wrong, i think the butterfly shaft is worn and doesn't return to the same place. if so, is there a kit for that or is a new carb on the menu? thanks Quote Link to comment
jefe de jefes
Put a return spring opposite the way the throttle opens. Also check #34 on the following link. My carb was binding there and it caused the same issue you have. After a little wd40 , all was well.http://www.racetep.com/weber/32_36DGV.pdf Quote Link to comment

mklotz70
Maybe this one is a bit closer :) http://www.olddatsuns.com/data/Hitachi_Carb_DCH_DCP_DRJ340.pdf (and if just the tech page comes up, the link is toward the bottom of the manuals list) If it were an auto choke, I'd say it was hanging up a bit...may still be choke linkage staying on the high idle cam. dbuzz77
ok, i just assumed the worst. i'll double check the fast idle cam adj. thanks Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
Check that the throttle cable isn't too tight and has a very small amount of play. Adding a spring will work but will just accelerate the wear too. Spray the linkages for the choke and accelerator pump with WD-40 and work them back and forth to loosen and lube them. dbuzz77
throttle shaft is worn, idle increases when you spray by it. a spring works good for now, next winter i'll get a new carb from rock auto when my inlaws are in yuma for the winter. Quote Link to comment

THat's exactly what I was going to say. I have the same problem on my 210, so I got a Weber coming for it. lol Quote Link to comment
