L16 idle

I'm pretty sure i know what the problem is, when the engine is warmed up (71 521 manual choke) you drive away, it runs fine. you come to a stop, it idles high maybe 1300rpm. you kick the throttle, it goes to 7 or 800 where i set it. the carb had a kit done but correct me if i'm wrong, i think the butterfly shaft is worn and doesn't return to the same place. if so, is there a kit for that or is a new carb on the menu? thanks

Maybe this one is a bit closer :)

If it were an auto choke, I'd say it was hanging up a bit...may still be choke linkage staying on the high idle cam.

Check that the throttle cable isn't too tight and has a very small amount of play. Adding a spring will work but will just accelerate the wear too. Spray the linkages for the choke and accelerator pump with WD-40 and work them back and forth to loosen and lube them.
