Fuel Sending Unit

Why don't any autoparts have replacement fuel sending units for 1970's datsuns? (77 Datsun 620) What do you guys do when these things corrode? Still not sure if that's the reason my fuel gauge isn't working but just doing research. :huh:

Go to a local wrecking yard. the 620's are plentiful up in the NW :D

I've noticed the same thing. My gauge doesn't work, and I can't order a replacement. Nissan may carry them, I just haven't bothered to call.

Have you guys tried cleaning the little posts where the wiring for the sending unit connects to?

Mine (521) didn't work either but after a good cleaning with

A wire brush ,my gauge came back to life.

Does anyone know the spec on a Datto sending unit off the top of the head? How many ohms empty - full?

I believe when i tested mine it was 0empty-160full. But I'm not sure it was operating correctly.

Full 10 ohms empty 80 ohms.

I think that the senders are all the same and only the floats are different for whatever vehicle or different tank is used. I briefly used a 720 tank with a 620 dash gauge and it worked fine.

There are different styles of senders, with different floats. Napa has a generic one that is adjustable...go check it out or find one at a wrecking yard. Some yards will pull and ship.
