racerx
When I bought my 510, maybe 6 years ago, the seller threw in a tranny and said that it's a Z 5 speed. So how do you identify a Z tranny. Thanks... RacerX Quote Link to comment
DRIVEN
If the search function is down: start by posting some pics in the "Drivetrain" section and then wait for datzenmike to respond. Quote Link to comment

MAG58
It's a Z 5speed? There's only two really. Both the same length. ID is easy. Look at the back set of ears. It's behind the rear trans mount, about where the speedo cable sits. If it has two ears than it's the early model, which isn't the close ratio and is more like a 4 speed with a 5th gear (it's not really much of an OD). The later model only has one ear and is the later trans with a close(closer) ratio gear set and taller 5th gear (.745 instead of .86 iirc). /spoonfeed. Quote Link to comment
