gen4maxima536
Does anyone know if there is a difference between the 240sx KA24E and the D21 KA24E pistons? looking up replacements, they have different part numbers These are going into a Z22s block, it came out of a 82 720 Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
Yes, I do know the difference. The 240sx rod has a brass insert that supports a full floating piston pin. The pin is lubricated by oil through the hole in the top.. the pin is held in the piston but cir clips on each side. The piston I have was easily removed from the rod by simply removing the clips and pushing the pin out with a finger. Try that with any other L or Z rod. The KAE pistons in the D-21 are pressed in. . gen4maxima536
Ok, thanks mike. Just working on planning out this build looks like Z22 crank, rods, block(bored to 89mm). D21 pistons. open chambered head. Another rebuild type question, what is the usual treatment for the stack of wire mesh that is up in the breather port for the PCV? is this something that is easily bought, or made with something that resembles metal screen door mesh....? MicroMachinery
I used a piece of thick, durable scotch brite; The kind that doesn't dissolve. I put it up underneath the little metal guard/shield, and bolted it in. Been running it for 3 years now with zero problems. Quote Link to comment
gen4maxima536
I found this.... http://www.rockauto.com/catalog/raframecatalog.php?carcode=1210150&parttype=4932 Crankcase breather element sounds like it might be what I'm looking for, I haven't ordered one yet though Quote Link to comment
