Yes, I do know the difference.

 

The 240sx rod has a brass insert that supports a full floating piston pin.

The pin is lubricated by oil through the hole in the top..

the pin is held in the piston but cir clips on each side. The piston I have was easily removed from the rod by simply removing the clips and pushing the pin out with a finger. Try that with any other L or Z rod.

 

The KAE pistons in the D-21 are pressed in.

Ok, thanks mike. Just working on planning out this build

looks like Z22 crank, rods, block(bored to 89mm). D21 pistons. open chambered head.

 

Another rebuild type question, what is the usual treatment for the stack of wire mesh that is up in the breather port for the PCV? is this something that is easily bought, or made with something that resembles metal screen door mesh....?

wasnt avail from nissan and the old was nasty, even after a dip.

 

 

bought large size SS screen and made my own. not running yet... :angry:
