Pumpkn210
Any plant matter you put in the soil will rot and kill the tree! Oil absorber, really? Just go to the fish store and get the right shit! I mean seriously, they use that stuff for a reason. Quote Link to comment

72240z
I didn't think anyone on here gave a shit about growing anything besides smokables lol. Horticulture is a BIG hobby of mine. There is no one right or wrong answer on soil. Bonsai is only the style not the plant. Pine and junipers are going to require less water, while anything that fruits/flowers will need more. There are some universals though, you need drainage retention and aeration. You HAVE to have those 3 things with w/e soil you choose. I personally don't use any organic soils with bonsai's, they are too prone and susceptible to root rot. I grow lots of stuff lol. I gave me 2 bonsais away though because I don't have the space. Every window in my house is jungle status. I have 3 plum trees, 4 apple trees, 4 grape vines, a cherry tree and in the summer a whole slew of herbs and vegi's. Quote Link to comment
