torsion bar bracket

my dad is looking for the bracket that is bolted to the lower control arm on his 79 kingcab. we picked up a 77 parts truck with a complete front end but the brackets on the kingpin truck do not match up with the lower control arm on the 79. does anyone know where to find these brackets?

thanks for the help.

the problem we are running into is that the angle of that bracket is different. the bracket from the 77 follows a deep bend from the lower control arm but the bracket on the 79 is much straighter. we have one bracket but need to locate another one. fabricating one wouldnt be too hard except for the grooved section where the torsion bar slides into the bracket. not having a welder available also makes trying to get the front done more difficult.

Sorry, was thinking sway bar.

Again the LCAs from '78 up are slightly different for the disc brake trucks.

If it helps, the Nissan part # for the '78 and up torque arm... (that's the thing the torsion bar splines into and also bolts to the LCA) is 54080 B9500 for left or right side. About $50 at the dealer.

Raise and support the side you want with the wheel off the ground. Find the anchors and loosen the top lock nut, then loosen both nuts of the anchor bolt.

This will relieve all tension from the bar...

How to Remove Torsion Bars

in front of the middle crossmember, you pull the boot forward to reveal the lock ring

Work a thin screwdriver into the edge of the ring. It will be tight. I had to work the angle back and forth while occasionally tapping the back of the handle with a hammer

Once you get under the ring, work it out slightly. Do not pull the screwdriver away or the ring will pop back on

After you have worked it off part way, use some pliers to pull the ring off the rest of the way. Be sure to still keep the screwdriver under the lock ring

Tap the rear arm of that holds the adjuster bolt out of the crossmember. Hang onto the torsion bar.
