rzrdisco
Someone that knows these motors inside please help. It appears that something is broken on my head, as shown in Fig. 1 & 2. It is located under the valve cover between the two cam gears on the head. The engine year is '93 if that makes a difference. Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
Looks like the upper chain guide. With luck the piece is in the oil pan. No harm done you can replace or run without I bet. http://i138.photobucket.com/albums/q251/datzenmike/L%20Z%20Heads%20and%20Motors/motorKA24DEa.jpg[/img]"] Quote Link to comment
freekwonder
Like Datzenmike said, looks like the upper chain guide. Don't need it anyways. Even nissan removed it from the S14 motors. Quote Link to comment
dimedriver
Every KA I have opened has had it removed. Most by breaking it off like that. The FSM and some TSB comment on it making noise and that you should remove it if the owner complains. Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
It may have broken off before you got the motor and the piece(s) removed. Quote Link to comment
Mark_Z28
Haha, its the upper chain guide. Its the main reason the KA24DE sounds like a can of marbles at idle on most of them. Be glad, the noise problem has been fixed on your engine allready for free. Quote Link to comment
Phixius
Like Datzenmike said, looks like the upper chain guide. Don't need it anyways. Even nissan removed it from the S14 motors. The gaurd/guide is on the s14 motors also. I have a 96 and mine was still there. Took it off before it broke. Maybe they had a recall? Quote Link to comment

Mark_Z28
No, dont sell the S2000, sold mine a while back and miss it. Its a nice car, keep it unless your going to go bankrupt if you keep it. Quote Link to comment
