coolioni Posted October 17, 2009 Report Share Posted October 17, 2009 I am rebuilding my a/c. I do not have any hoses or fittings to hook up the a/c parts together. So I need the hoses that connect the condensor to the reciever drier and the reciveer drier to the firewall. Does anyone have at least the fittings so I can get the hoses made up for my truck ? I have tried all around town to get the hoses made, and nobody seems to have the proper fittngs! I tried junkyards and I have exhusted all posiblites! So if anyone can help I would really appreciate it. I have an 83 2.4 liter 720 4x4 king cab. Thanks Link to comment

yello620 Posted October 20, 2009 Report Share Posted October 20, 2009 Napa has listings in books for all of these fittings.:D The local Napa here in town also builds custom hoses as needed.:) However, finding a counterman at any Napa that gives a shit is tough to find:fu:, and finding one that also knows how to look up A/C parts.:lol: Good Luck. Wait wait wait... hold on. What are you looking for again? The receiver drier is on the low pressure side, and the condenser is on the high pressure side. The system is divided by the compressor(low side to high side) and some kind of TXV(High side to low side). I don't believe that there is a hose that directly connects the condenser and the receiver drier. Perhaps you're talking about the evaporator? Maybe I'm wrong.. .. at any rate, I just got off the phone w/ one of my guys at Napa, and he said he could get fittings, but he'd need some specific dimensions of your a/c components. When I mentioned I didn't have them handy, and as you are in Florida, he told me that you should have absolutely NO problem finding an a/c specialist in that kind of environment that could specially make you some hoses. I suggest you look around a little more, look in the phone book, because if I can find fittings up here in Oregon, where we don't even NEED a/c, you should definitely be able to locate some in Florida. After all of this time I have finally got my a/c working!!!! I was able to get the hoses/fittings from an internet used partd dealer that was in another state. I got all the hoses I needed with the fittings for around $50 total. We hooked them all up, and added 2 cans or Freon and amazingly everything works. It has been working just fone for about 2 months now. It is amazing what a difference having a/c in your truck will do during the summer. I used to hate driving my truck once it started to get warm. Being that I am in Florida that is pretty much 8-9 months out of the year! I could not believe that all the little parts including the compressor have been woking just fine. Now its time to start working on the body. I really need a new bed. Mine is totally rusted out beyond trying to repair it. unfortunatly here in florida you just can not find a bed for this truck that is not all rusted. so if I want to do it right I am going to have to buy a bed from somewhere out west and have it shipped to me. the shipping alone is going to cost more than the bed will. I have found plenty of almost rust free beds for about $300- $400. too bad the shipping is at least that price too. Link to comment
