ggzilla
From April '65 to September '65.... 4,603 according to my 'book'. Was the 1966 model year the only one for the slope-hood single headlight 520? No wonder they are so rarely seen nowadays. Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
I believe they were. Quote Link to comment

datzenmike
I have just confirmed from this source: http://www.olddatsuns.com/data/Datsun_Pick-Up_USA_&_Canada_Parts_Catalog_Model_520_521_Series.pdf (look under 520/521 parts catalog) that there were 4,603 1965 520s made. dunno,i have 2 1967 520s, one has singles and the other with duals:confused: Check the build date on the tag if it came equipped with it. The car number on the engine compartment (cowl) will list a number between L520-000001 and L520-004603 if it is a '66 520 (made between April and Sept. '65. For a '66 look for car #s L520-006404 to L520-019000 made from Oct '65 to Sept. '66 For '67 look for car # L520-0019001 to 160000 made from Oct. '66 to Sept. '77 I find that only the '65 has single headlights, '66 and on are dual in the pictures. Quote Link to comment

datsunaholic
Never seen a dual '66. Seen both dual and single '67s. Quote Link to comment
Charlie69
My 66 520 has single head lights and It is #007390. Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
I'm only going by a picture of a '65 and a '66. Sometimes back then, the year it's registered is the year put down on the owner's permit. I'll look up the headlight pot and see what year it was used on. EDIT: I find the single headlight trim rings only used up to 09 '66. Maybe front ends were swapped? Edited October 12, 2009 by datzenmike Quote Link to comment
Charlie69
Mine was manufactured in 10 of 65. Quote Link to comment
ggzilla
Remember that the 1966 north america "model year" typically was from October 1965 to September 1966. But it can vary widely. Datsun back then mostly used October for the US market, but the Calendar Year for Japanese market advertising. American law permits advertising a vehicle manufactured Jan 2, 2009 to be called a 2010 model. Don't know how far back they used this naming convention. Quote Link to comment
