yello620
Tim, I looked up the wiring diagram for your 85 and it shows a white wire on the battery charge stud and a white wire at the sense terminal, and a blue/white wire at the lamp terminal. Good luck Quote Link to comment
izzo
Thanks jason today i knew of a dead 720 4x4 so i went and checked it out, bought the alternator off it for 20 dollars. i swiped the electrical connector off the harness too. The stock 720 4x4 alternator connector is a PERFECT fit on the KA alternator. Snug when snapped in, slides in easy. so that just leaves the earth wire and battery wire which will be easy. I measured the the stock 720 alt and the base width is 3 1/8th. I measure the KA and its a little bit wider, but its 3 1/8 with that metal bushing in there. so itll work out perfectly! nis720
I have a few plugs that will fit as well. These are misc plugs off a 240sx harness. Quote Link to comment

Tim, that steel sleeve is designed to slide inside the aluminum housing.:D It allows you to open that space for an easier install.:D Just tap it with a hammer, and when you tighten your bolts it will slide back to snug on the bracket.
