Labanon
Is there anything I should salvage from it. I'm pretty sure it has a Z24 in. I only gave it a quick look. I have a 1963 320 and eventually will do a engine swap and was wondering if thats a good base engine? I originally wanted to do a KA swap. But if it's a good base engine I'll just swap that. Also, would I be able to use the master cylinder from it on my 320 as a bolt in. I want to upgrade my master. How can I check if the rear leaf springs fit on my 320. Thanks for the input. Thanks for the input. in terms of ka's from hardbodys i was searching craigslist for a decent price for quite a few months, seems you wont get a full truck for under 800ish. If your in the mini-truck scene, etc you might be able to get a motor/trans cheaper. Not sure on your leaf question, the z24 isnt a bad engine, its reliable and has some aftermarket support. My buddy is actually taking his n/a ka24 build out of his 240 and is putting a z24 in it. I wouldnt say its a common swap, but its different. (meaning for the 240) Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
520/521/620/720 springs are all 1,200 mm long eyelet to eyelet. Don't know about yours but you could always leave the top spring and swap the bottom ones. 4X4 springs have less arch but are stiffer. The 720 master is a tandem unit and unlikely to swap. Besides it is for a front disc brake truck. Maybe if yo swap the booster as well?? Z24 is a good motor. Not a screamer but pulls good at low revs where you drive most of the time anyway. Should haul a tiny 320. You will need a NAPS or Hardbody/240sx tranny. Edited June 5, 2009 by datzenmike Quote Link to comment
Bleach
The brakes can be used on a late 70's 620 truck. Get the whole spindle, rotor, and caliper as a unit. (if its cheap enough) 1990+ were the KA24 engine. Personally I wouldn't bother with the Z24 engine unless for some reason you already had the fuel injection setup that would work for that engine. Labanon
Its complete has the tranny and all fuel injection. I dont think its a KA I think its a Z24. Quote Link to comment
72240z
There are a lot of parts you can sell to make money of the d21 as well because at yards they are rare. The gauge cluster, speedo cable, ebrake cableS, half shafts, rear windows, the shift knob and 4x4 knob, the side mirrors, the 4 corner lights... I even saw a completely rust free bed go for $400, if not then the tail gate. Just saying if you got the time and want to break even on w/e you keep for yourself. Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
If it has an 8 plug wire distributor then it's a Z24i. The tranny is an FS5W71C type and will fit the KA motor. Quote Link to comment
Labanon
What if its not 8 plug wire is it worth it to pull? What all will I need for the Z24 engine swap? Quote Link to comment
Bleach
what I meant was, I don't think the Z24 in the truck up through 1989 even had fuel injection. I think its a carb. 200SX fuel injection from a Z22 (point injection) would work on it though. Quote Link to comment

The z24 was tpi just like the vg30i, some parts liek the throttle body itself are identical. Then they dropped z24 and tpi all together in 90 for the vg30e and ka24e Quote Link to comment
LCDC
If it were me, I would salvage everything :D Quote Link to comment
Bleach
ok, so the 1990-97 is point fuel injection but with a verticle mounted air filter, just like the KA24DE in the Frontier? weird stuff. 240SX intake looks much cooler. :) Quote Link to comment

For '90 the Z24i was replaced with the KA24E and the VG30i became the VG30E. Quote Link to comment
