my free '80 Z

Recommended Posts

Got her home about two hours ago - well, actually gonna leave her at my bud's a few miles away.

I used two tires off my '80 510 on the rear axle for towing only to discover that my 13's wouldn't quite clear the huge brakes on the back so I wound up yanking the calipers off.

I've already yanked a wicked little underhood lamp off it for my 510. I also found a freakin' Japanese throwing star in the console of the thing. I drilled a hole in it and now have it hanging from the rear view mirror of my wagon.

I noticed the shift knob in it was actual chrome metal instead of plastic like mine so I swapped that out too.

I'm going to have to hunt up another "iron cross" rim for a full set for my 510 but I'm still pretty happy with the deal. The Dastun was free but I bought a car from the same guy today.

The car I actually bought is a 1996 Pontiac Grand Prix coupe, 204k, V6, automatic, power everything (needs passenger window and driver's inside door handle), runs/drives great (needs an intake gasket) tags are good until June of '09 and it has a clear title in his deceased father's name.

I drove it 70mph down the interstate behind my bud's truck as he was pulling my 'new' 280 to his place. I will pay the owner of the Grand Prix when he hands me the title.

The Pontiac will cost me $200 (yes $200) and he gave me the Z to get it off the place !

A deal and a Deal!!! I dunno what the import market is like in OK, but out here you would've just snagged yourself some serious free $$$$'s !!!

nice!

Ben, imports get no love here but I plan on parting it on the net so I've got my fingers crossed :).

Wharf, yeah, I would have paid him just for the rims :D!

Here's a shot of the Grand Prix - not a bad car but I don't really need it.

My $200 '96 Grand Prix hoopty in now on the road.

Counting purchase price, intake gasket, oil/filter change and registration I got $360 in it so far and it runs like a striped-ass ape.

The supervisor who sold it to me was not happy when he saw me pull up in it today :D.

His mechanic had told him the engine was shot 'cuz it was getting the water in the oil.

My buddy told me the 3.1 liter V6 is notorious for intake gaskets going bad and letting water get in the oil.

Guess what?

My buddy was right !
