I got Valvoline Synthetic 80-140wt. Seems to shift alot smoother than that nasty gray old oil.

One thing thoe when i drained the old oil on the drain plug there was a chip of metal on it.The other day when i was driving i put it in 4-gear and it seemed like it was slowing down?? I'll see tomorrow if the new oil helps it out abit.

The drain bung has a magnet on it so metallic 'grit' will collect there. Normally it's a black paste but I did drain one once with a ball bearing on it. :D

Synthetic oil protects like 90W but is thin like 10W30 motor oil. Shifting when cold is way better and in warmer weather I found the shifts made a nice click sound into gear. Seemed smoother with less effort. I don't have a noisy tranny so I can't say if it will quiet a whiner. I use it in the trans case and diff.

Check the diff oil level, better yet, if you are changing oils change it too.
