  1. If my truck is running I would love to attend. You guys don't want me rolling up in a Toyota do you?
  2. You lucky you!!! I have to finds parts like a dog all day in the sun at diffrent yards... ;)
  3. Here is some pics I used this old engine chain as a test... My old chain cover... Look how clean it was until I broke it... And the progress... Sorry for the blurry pics.... But believe me the V is in half way with the - while the piston is at zero...
  4. Thanks for the response. I will try that out Mike. The thing is that this engine is supposed to be new! So the chain should not be stretched. So this is what I did... I have one dead l20b lying here and I used its used chain and sprocket. I put it on #2 and connected the shines things like you guys told me on both dots. Now I have the V notch half way in the - ! Now that's an improvement!!!!! So I'm going to keep playing with it until I get a nice combo.... I'll post some pics...
  5. *scratches face off* Its seems like once I took everything off and tried to install it correctly. It still doesn't align perfectly. I put the #1 piston exactly at the zero and the sprocket at #2 and at the - and v... But when I try to install the chain with the shiny chrome ends at the dots. It seems that the chrome chain will not fit fit perfectly at the bottom sprocket. I have to move the cam ahead a Little to attach the chain correctly at the bottom, but it makes the cam advance... WTF..... Its the same problem as before!!!!! What could be wrong? could it be that my chain is wrong or the new sprocket? Or is it that my timing plate is bended? I will buy a new chain and tension from a different brand to be sure. If Its still has the same problem then I will just install everything back how it was and run it that way... Any advice??!?!?!?!? Can you also remove the bottom sprocket?
  6. They are two 521 in the yard today that were pretty much picked clean because of the half off. Pick a part down P.C.H in Wilmington right hand side... I was looking for the chain cover but couldn't find a good one. There is also a 620 with really good fenders, doors and a bumper at this location....11000 E. Lomita Blvd., Wilmington, CA 90744. (310) 549-4533 BTW I took of the hood, dash, grill, and T housing...
  7. I need a good clean one for my l20b... Not so cavitated please... *sigh* I broke mines from the distributor base. I don't expect some one to help me... But if you have a good one please help me out, I will pay around 20+ cash. Thanks! Mines was mint! Well not so much anymore.... Lynwood California.... I might have to go to the yard tomorrow....
  8. I have some tundra steeles on my rig and they fit...
  9. I got the rig with bigger fog lights.. They were amber and did not look to good with the yellow Benz. Sadly one lens broke and well I just went to the autozone to buy this chrome ones for 20 bucks... The originals were Japanese.... The rear window I found it in the yard "pickapart down CHP"... It has some broken plastic clips that the PO must of broken off. But the hinges, gasket, & window are really good. I can fix it but I need to drill some holes... But I really don't want to modify it... If I cant find these plastics clips, I guess I would....
  10. I seem to remember that 74 didn't come with tach's... I already asked in the forums how you can install them... But how did you install yours? Or was it already there? Thanks! Nice truck BTW!!!! Lots of time and effort you put on her I see...
  11. So the sprocket is on #2 on the l20b? Well I guess that was put on right... I thought they made a mistake on my l20b... Yeah it was off, it was not on the middle or even close to the v... Pump primed and ready my friend!!!! Thanks alot!!!!!
  12. You might be right that I might be imagining things... But I took off the sprocket already and I cant put it back on anymore... And I wasn't running it yet. I was dialing it in when I saw it... It was off and not by alot but it was off... Stupid me...
  13. Recent updates.... Pics before I tear her apart again!
  14. Pretty sure... I saw your vid and it looked advanced... The place who did my engine put on the chain and well after seeing your vid, I was sure it was advanced. The v wasn't on the - while the pointer was at 0 degs.... I took of the sprocket and moved it a tooth but now I cant put it back on... ARG!!!! any who I was wanting my rig to be running on July 4. but now it would take a little longer. "9 dollars for new gaskets"... Still wanting it to be ready for the October show... Btw I usually take of the crank bolt while the car is in gear and with blocks so the car wont move... I don't want to cause any problems with the head...
  15. Dang... I never understood what was that block of wood was used for. Now I understand... I messed up big time!!!!! I was almost done too... I guess I have to remove the timing cover now... I am an idiot!!! Thanks...
  16. OK I have tried to search for this around Ratsun but there is no help with this question I have... As you may know I have have sent my engine to get rebuilt and it seems that the timing is off. The head is not timed and is off my a tooth or two. My question is do I have to take off the timing chain cover to fix this problem? I have tried to fix this problem by taking off the head gear "teeth" and move it up one. But it seems that I can put it back in... That sucks.... I guess I do have to take off the timing chain cover. But if there is a way please let me know... Thanks!
  17. Datsun racing parts from japan imported into California.... http://www.kameariusa.com/index.php http://www.kameariusa.com/L4_TwinIdlerGear.php
  18. I think if it has those metal clips that the 620 has in the doors. It would work on almost all Datsun's... I have also learned that the 1st generation 4runner has the rear rubber you guys need....
  19. It will fit into those metal clips... You will have the remove the old remaining squeegee to make it fit snug. Just take good measurement and don't half ass it like me...
  20. If I go up there, I'll let him know... Hey were can I get a plate like his? I like!!!!! Some pic of his truck from his house...
  21. The booster that came with the truck was way smaller, like what datzenmike said "74 model".... The bigger ones looked like they would fit but they always hit the clutch cylinder. So I looked online and looked for different cylinders that I can use... I learned that I was using the wrong clutch cylinder and bought the correct one. So I just put everything stock now with the correct booster and clutch cylinder... Thanks everyone!!!!! BTW... They still rub though....
  22. Got that booster problem fixed... My rig had the wrong clutch cylinder... Used a 710 front Datsun badge from the yard that I found. I think it looks nice in the 620 grill no? Me happy with the results!!! The engine is ready but some parts are still being degressed and painted from the old motor... I will try to have her ready for the JCCS!!! Wish me luck!!!
  23. YOU BETTER WAKE UP EARLY AND GET THESE PARTS!!!! THERE IS usually a LINE BEFORE IT EVEN OPENS WHEN ITS HALF OFF... PEOPLE ARE ALREADY INTERESTED IN THESE PARTS. I REALLY WANT SOME ONE IN RATSUN TO GET THEM BUT NOT TO MAKE A PROFIT!!!! ONCE AGAIN THE DIRECTIONS!!!! http://www.pickapart.com/losangeles.html THE ONE YARD IN THE RIGHT IN THE CITY OF WILMINGTON IF YOU COMING FROM THE 710 FROM THE P.C.H!!!!!
  24. NOT THE HANG-510 METHOD!!! That can be found here btw http://forum.ratsun.net/showthread.php?t=3234&highlight=Window+Squeegee This is great cus you wont have to pay 112.95 for a set at Datsun restore and it will cost less than 10 dollars plus it wont scratch the glass anymore... Ok... This is what you do... First find a 4runner years 91-95 and look if it has the rear door Once you find this SUV with the 3.SLOW look for the rear window squeegee... "you will need two" Here is my suv for an example... Second remove that squeegee with some pliers and be careful not to rip it. Third buy it cus it wont fit in your pocket and or bend it. Forth take it home and cut to fit... Here are some finished examples...
