      Go to your local Oriental food take out. Grab a pair of chopsticks. Bottom one out in each bolt hole and mark the depth with a pencil, also helps to note deep or shalow on a paper sketch. You have your answer without buying a depth gauge, plus if you actually bought something you have dinner.
