Not even half a quart. A little bit goes a longggg way. And that's with 2 coats across the whole thing. Well, it's been a few days now. The paints sat a bit. The coat is pretty good other then the occasional nick and peel. Got the wet/dry paper sitting to the side and I'm going to go over it sometime this week. :) I'm not going cheap on the clear coat. I'm going to use the DupliColor clear for $20 a quart. It's got some iffy spots like that. Its not bad though! I'm wet sanding the rest of the car in a few hours and I'm going to paint the other fender. Hopefully it all turns out better then this one.

My old paint was rattle canned. I liked it for a while until it started fading. I came across some Rust-Oleum paint for about $8 a quart, and mixed it with 15% acetone and found that it worked WAY better and cheaper then rattle can. It came out GREAT and looks way better then plain old rattle can. It's way smooth even without a clear coat on it yet, and seems to look even like real car paint. You can buy it in most colors, just about anywhere. Home Depot, Lowes, etc. I got some pics if you wanna see how it turns out. My vote is Rustoleum, but NOT rattle can!! My build with pictures.

First off, I'd like to say WELCOME to Ratsun! I am a 210 owner and more then satisfied with my car. The 210 is an old economy car that doesn't seem to be one of the most popular Datsun's ever, but it has the potential to be one of the coolest! The light weight car makes for a great start for making a cool race car, and they aren't the most complex Datsun's to work on. Ratsun is definitely the place to go with your Datsun related questions. Get the 210!!

A few more pics of the paint, just to show you what I'm working with. ALSO got my Weber 32/36 DGAV today and started cleaning it. :) I started polishing it, to get a better finish. Got it for $100 from another guy on here ;) Forgot his name, but I'll get it up here. THANKS man!! As soon as I get an adapter, I'll have my car up at daily driver status. Only reason it's not now is because the choke is fucked.

Perhaps :) It's cut with 15% acetone to thin it an spray with a gun. We could probably do something with your Z. Let me know when you aren't busy and we can take a look! Also, it generally is used for roll on applications, however it states on the can that it's for metal too and the back says it can be sprayed if cut with 15% acetone

OH MY GOD I didn't even look at that until now. haha No, its covering the bearing while I search for new dust caps. Don't want shit getting in the bearing.

Poor car's :( Those last few are really nice.

That's the problem I had. I was wrenching and all the sudden POP and it's loose. I look down and SONOVABITCH it's in 2 different pieces. I got one from DDgonzal for $10 and it got me running again. I wouldn't order one from RockAuto if you can avoid it. Kinda seems excessive for cheap metal pieces. Have you checked junkyards?

Same shit happened to me. haha You can always go jump on Datsun1200.com and PM DDgonzal and ask if he has any spares to sell. He helped me when I snapped mine. lol He's also the mod for the site.

I decided I liked the color, so I went to work with the rest of the car! Hope you like it as much as I do. We also decided that we wanted it in the sun to help dry the paint. Didn't want to bother trying to get it to run (Choke doesn't work) so we pulled it Ratsun style :D

I sprayed a clear on it earlier to keep it from rusting since I'm painting the car as a priority. It looks pretty good! I'll get pics in a few days when I get back to it. I though about painting it like that too. Seems like a bitchin idea ;)

Started doing paint today! Picked up a quart for $8 of Rust Oleum safety red. I originally was going to just test it and decide if I liked it, however now I've fallen in love with the color and I'm doing the whole car. Heres some crappy pics. More in the coming days, Also, started polishing the valve cover.

Yeah man, the 175's are cool little bikes no doubt. Just hard to find good parts for. What color is the center console you have that you wanna get rid of?

Okay, I learned a TON today! Thanks for all the help guys. I got it started in my spare time. (I started painting the car today. Check the build thread if you want to see pics.) It seems to polish up pretty decent, considering I haven't spent more then an hour so far on it. It's nowhere near done yet, just got a head start on it until I have more down time.
