Description

I'm looking to buy an L20b intake manifold, I don't care what it was off of originally as long as it's an independent intake manifold, not one that's joined to the exhaust manifold.

Recommended Questions

Then you'll want a '78-'80 intake. If not worried about EGR connections an earlier L16/18 intake will fit but the runners are slightly smaller diameter.

The one you want is casting #W58, big port.  All others are small port.

I do have a #w58 intake that I picked up a while back but it had a bunch of corrosion and after I cleaned it in my ultrasonic cleaner and removed most of the corrosion I could see that it's severely pitted. In some areas it's almost all the way through from the intake passages to the coolant passages and I'm worried that some coolant might make it's way into the intake.

L16 L18 small port intake will bolt up, but if you have a big port cylinder head, then that is NOT ideal.

That's what's currently bolted up to my engine, it's also cracked so I'd like to get the correct one now that I'm replacing it.

The '75-'77 U67 (that's the one with the co-joined manifolds) is the same big intake port head as the W58. I have the U67 head but used a later W58 intake by drilling two small coolant holes for flow into the intake runners.

Wow, sounds pretty bad!  Yes, if that pitted, I would find a replacement intake!  ALWAYS verify casting #W58!!  That is exactly what you want!

Yeah, it's bad! It actually smelled like fertilizer as I was cleaning it, so I'm wondering if it was on a shelf next to fertilizer for years or some other chemicals.
