samsung
this is my second ka/510 swap but i cannot get this one to spark. i have it wired as the diagrams on this site says. but my starter is hard wired to push button. all the relays are working and im getting power sent out to all wires needed. (black/white,blk/red,black/yellow, brown, red,) correct? still no spark. ive also hooked up the green/orange to power transneutral and still nothing. my harness is getting power at the plugs. i have a good grounds from head to chassis and from block to chassis. i have swapped out coils. made sure coils grounded. ive only not checked codes yet. any thoughts of why im not getting spark. anything i have missed? thank you Quote Link to comment
samsung
ok i ran codes and its only coming up with one code. 21 igntion signal. Quote Link to comment
jesusno2
I just did all the wiring in my goon with a single cam swap Do you have power while cranking? I had to tie in the black/blue striped wire with the black/white wire. Quote Link to comment
Icehouse
Have you tried another dizzy? Are the injectors pulsing? Quote Link to comment
samsung
yes i have power while cranking. Quote Link to comment
samsung
no have yet to try another dizzy. im not 100% percent sure on injectors pulsing or not. the harness to them does see power. Quote Link to comment
Icehouse
Not power, the ECU pulses a ground signal to the injectors, if there isn't a timing pulse coming from the dizzy the injectors won't fire. The injectors always have power even with the key off. Sounds like a bad dizzy to me. I've been wrong before though :D Quote Link to comment
samsung
ya i will pull the dizzy out of my 2dr tomorrow to test it out. thanks Quote Link to comment
Icehouse
Remember the dual cam has teeth unlike the L series so it needs to be timed, You don't have any buddies that have one? It would be nice to just plug it in and spin it with your fingers. With the coil unplugged from the cap checking for spark, why mess up the timing if you don't have to :D Report back what you find out. I know a guy having a similar problem that I need to go fix. If you give me the insight I may be one step ahead :D Quote Link to comment
samsung
ok i cleared codes. then pluged the new dizzy in and spun it and the injectors are pulsing. but still no spark from coil. even switched coils out again to be sure. Quote Link to comment
napz510
If you're sure that everything are hook up and got power. check your timing...maybe that's the problem. Location? Quote Link to comment
Icehouse
ok i cleared codes. then pluged the new dizzy in and spun it and the injectors are pulsing. but still no spark from coil. even switched coils out again to be sure. Did you check injector pulse before you put the new dizzy in? HHHMM I gotta think about this for a bit... Did the new Dizzy pop the same code? Quote Link to comment
samsung
its not base timing cuz the motor came directly out of a running 240. and the distributor has not been moved. when i plugged the other dizzy in and spun it by hand. the injectors fired but the coil did not spark. im going to check continuity between my plugs and ecu to see if there is a short. ill update later on today Quote Link to comment
samsung
yup same code. "no ignition signal" im begging to think its a short in the harness. correct me if im wrong but the coil is told to spark via grounding the wire at the ecu. not power? Quote Link to comment
Icehouse
Yeah same as the L stuff the coil ground is broken by the ECU though. Have you had the engine running before? Quote Link to comment
samsung
no its a fresh swap. it was in a running car 240 then pulled and i then swapped it in mine Quote Link to comment
kwoo510
I suspect your ignitor is bad or not wire correctly. Quote Link to comment
napz510
2 black/red, 3 black/white, 3 red/white and black/yellow is for your idle control should have power and brown not used. Just double check it. Quote Link to comment
Icehouse
is the coil and ignitor grounded? I've always grounded them but not sure if it's required. Quote Link to comment
samsung
after running continuity tests i found i did not have cont between the black red stipe and black white stripe while key off. when key on it had cont. my other harness had it all the time. i could not see any harness failure. so i just threw the other harness on and fired right up perfect. Icehouse
That's great you got it figured out!!! Thanks for posting a conclusion, I've been wondering all day what it could be :D Quote Link to comment
godrifttoday
I'm having the same issue. The car started before, I did not mess with the engine harness at all. When u said u had no connectivity between the wire while off , then that would mean pin 87 would have to be connected straight to power. What did your new harness have that the old one did not?
