Bandit240
Ok, so my dad has found a maxima diesel and wants to fit the motor to a truck. How hard is it to fit an I-6 into a Datsun truck? I think he wants to fit it to a 720, but id figured i would ask if they fit in any Datsun trucks. Quote Link to comment
1971Datsupra
Go check out my "another new member thread" I put a 2jz in to my little 521. As long as the "I want this done" and bank holds out....it's not that bad. Quote Link to comment
ggzilla
It appears easy, as engine swaps go. You will either need to relocate the radiator, or cut a big hole in the firewall and shorten the driveshaft. Your choice. Then there is all the little stuff that any swap requires, exhaust, wiring, oil pan sump, etc. Quote Link to comment
volksmike
Mark, Know anyone who would like to buy my truck? sorry for the hyjack... Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
Lets see, you plan to drop from 100 hp down to 75-80 and add extra weight to the front end. L20B weighs about 270, what does an LD28 weigh anyway. Quote Link to comment
Bandit240
This is my dads idea. He is a diesel nut. He owns nothing that runs on gas except for the weedeater and chainsaw. He's not looking for speed or power, just something to ride around town in. He was going to put an Isuzu diesel motor into a Samurai, but the guy with the sammy cant find the title. nbesheer
If you can try and find a overseas market LD20T or if not look around for a USDM SD22 it's a 2.2L Diesel 4cly, came in Datsun 720's Quote Link to comment
Bandit240
Yea, we used to have a 720 with the SD22. The thing is, we have a lead on a rusted out Maxima with the diesel in it, so we would like to see if it will fit into a truck. No need for a car. If it doesnt work out fitting it into a nissan/datsun truck, we may end up sticking it in a Jeep pickup. Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
Diesels are cool. More efficient and will run on almost anything. Quote Link to comment
Llittle_Llama
I would like to see it done just o there is another build thread on here :) always nice to see what others come up with that is a little out of the norm :D Quote Link to comment
kennysgreen280z
If the maxima is a wagon.... you could just turn it into an elcamino type creation. The LD is a freaking boat anchor. Ill weigh the one ive got here in a few days. Just imagine your normal L-6 with a cast iron head and 25lbs worth of diesel pump on the side! Quote Link to comment
Bandit240
According to the info on the Max, its a rust bucket. Quote Link to comment
kennysgreen280z
not suprising. Quote Link to comment
