Lozer
I was watching Hainz vid (great source of info btw) and i noticed he adjusts his rockers to .06 intake and .08 exhaust im wondering in anyone else is doing this and does it make a noticeable improvement in the wonderfull rocker chatter? Cuts metal like mad
I go .08 on all... If I remember correctly the intake valves tend to tighten up over time and the exhaust valves tend to losen. But I may have that reversed. Regardless, the fsm recommends readjusting every 12k miles... So like once a year or less. Quote Link to comment
datsunfish
I believe 6 & 8 is for large or regrind cams. Thats what I do on my regrind. That might be too tight for stock. Do them cold per the manual and you should be fine. Quote Link to comment
littlekeeley
i've got a mystery cam that i have bought from a garage in washington. any thoughts on finding valve lash for a "manly cam" is there a method? or is it something i should heckle him for the information? oh yeah, when i say manly, i mean "damn that might be too big for the head" Quote Link to comment
ggzilla
Yes, an L-series engine should have no valve follower tapping sounds. Super quiet is what it should be. A careful adjustment fixes the problem. If it's not quiet at factory adjustment then it's either: *worn out, or * you didn't adjust it right For an aftermarket cam, follow the cam manufacturer's recommendation. Quote Link to comment
