HB233 4.11:1

Recommended Posts

or is it 4:11?

Nissan experts - I find mention on the Internets of a HB233 rear end in 4:11. Anyone know the year/vehicle etc this rear end originated? Thank you (looking for an HB233 swap for a Nissan 720 not against the H190)

What's the difference between these and the 720 rear ends?

Edit: what would it take to swap one of these into a 720?

Later 720 4x4 used a C-200 or 200mm ring gear. This style the gears mount into the axle case from the rear. The H233 is 233mm actually larger than the Ford 9" and the gears are mounted into a separate third member that bolts in from the front.. They are also wider, maybe an inch wider per side?

The D21 axle had leaf spring mounts but it's unknown if same distance apart as the 720. The WD21 was 5 link and coil springs so they would all need to be cut off and leaf spring mounts added.

The D21 were drum brake. I don't think there was a disc brake option but there was an LSD option. The WD21 were all disc brake and all LSD and only came in 4.375 and 4.625 ratios.

The 720 C-200 uses a single a single shaft pinion mate, the H-233 uses a stronger 4 pinion mate.

Is there a removable third member option for the front of a 4wd?

Like an '80 Toyota? I don't think so they are either R-180 or R200 and the differential is solidly mounted to the frame. Kind of limits you if raising.
