Induction heater

Recommended Posts

Removing drive shaft to measure/use ends for 1 piece.

Anybody know why they used 2 piece shafts?

One of the pinion flange nuts is rounded.

Borrowed a Solary brand handheld heater.
There's not room to get the 10 AWG wire it came with in around the nut.
Anybody know if smaller dia. wire will cause damage to the unit?

Why not just cut the nut off? A cutoff wheel on a 4” grinder and in a couple of seconds you’re done or use vise grips.

Wanting to save the special studs in the flange. Vice grips might work if I grind tips down, they're in bad tight spot. Can only get open end on and only one way with very little swing. Hoping I can get smaller nuts to go back with. Has 14's, 13's would be WAAY better.

Just rotate the shaft to where the nut you’re trying to remove is at the bottom. You’ll get most rotation when it’s at the bottom. Yes it will be slow going, but hopefully when you get it loosened there might be enough meat to use an end wrench. I’ve taken the driveshaft out of my ‘85 a number of times, so I know what you’re talking about.
