Lostangeles
I purchased a 68 520/1300 living in a barn for 50 years. Love it. I am having the engine rebuilt here in Los Angeles in coordination with my mechanic. The machine shop is having a hard time finding a camshaft for the J-13. Any and all recommendations will be appreciated. The shop specifies that the cam needs to be 1.3. 1 Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
What's wrong with the old one?????? If sitting for 50 years then the cam has only 6 years of running on it. The Nissan part number is 13001-09500. I doubt they will have one but you may be able to cross reference it. Some lift trucks use the J13 and Mexico and south of there used the J15 and J18. Unlikely that they use a different cam. If damaged try a want ad here... https://ratsun.net/classifieds/category/9-datsun-parts/... a used one is most likely Quote Link to comment
Lostangeles
I appreciate the reply. The engine would not turn and had to be rebuilt. The camshaft broke when they got the engine running. A used one has been sourced. Now on to finding a rebuild kit for the clutch. 1 Quote Link to comment
Stoffregen Motorsports
Bummer that it broke, but cool that you found another one. FWIW- many of those engine parts are interchangeable with other J motors and with MGA/MGB motors. 1 Quote Link to comment
