280zx 5 speed trans

I got this 5 speed trans out of a early 80's 280zx way back . Just wondering if anyone could give me any info on it from these oics. Also wondering if this is the close ratio version.

Yes it is consistent with being form an '80-'83 non turbo 280zx. This only means that it's not not from a 280zx. I see that it has been taken apart before.

 

Having it out will make this part easy...

 

Mark the input and the output spline, place in first gear. Turn input 20 full turns while someone counts the output turns.

 

5.5 turns it's a wide ratio

6.0 turns it's a mid ratio

6.5 turns it's a close ratio. '80-'83 non turbo 280zx.

 

There were to different OD (over drive) for these years.

'80 .............................. 0.773

'81-'83 ........................ 0.745

 

If you care... turn input 10 turns and count output turns...

 

 7.73........ 0.773

7.45......... 0.745

Thanks Mike I did some searching on the site and snapshot some of the info you posted before I will try to check it out tomorrow. And update what I find out. Well I have to locate the shifter before I can check it out.
