Datsun 720 4x4 front differential leak

Hello, does anyone know if there is a seal/gasket that would need to be replaced on a front differential 1980 datsun 720 4x4?

Seal # 38342-21000.

 

Used on 510, 610, 810, z and zx cars, Maxima sedans, Stanza wagons, S12 after '84, Sentra and Axxess so no shortage of them.

Nice, thanks for the part number, does anyone know how to get to the seal whether I would need to pry it out with a pry bar or with a variation of a bearing puller?

The round thing is the side flange and using two pry bars across from each other just pry it out. There is a circlip that holds onto the side flange splines and prevents easy removal. The seal should be pressed into the side bearing retainer just behind it. You should be able to pry the seal out with a screwdriver. The new seal should be tapped into the side bearing retainer using a suitable size socket. Be sure to grease the seal lips before the side flange is fitted so it doesn't start turning dry.

 

The  side flange just pushes back into the differential and engages the side gear splines and the circlip.
