JMAC88
Hi all, does anyone know what starter motor I need for my 1600? I’m located in Australia and having a hard time finding one. Its an L20B motor with a 5 speed gearbox out of a 910 The flange diameter is 82mm and hole centres 110mm. Would anyone know a part number for the starter, or an equivalent such as a reduction starter or from another car? Thanks. Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
Any L series starter will fit but preferably one from at least an L20B. The 280z/zx six cylinder will work or from the L24 in the 810/910 Maxima if you got the L24 six cylinder. I have a Maxima L24 six cylinder gear reduction starter on my L20B. 23300-N5902 is a gear reduction starter for a Canadian or optional US starter for an L20B 620 truck. Also used on the '78 280z and 810 with L24 engine. 23300-N5903 is a gear reduction starter for the '79-'83 280z L28E and L28ETurbo and the '81-'84 910 Maxima L24 engine. Quote Link to comment

JMAC88
I think I’ve found one, for a KA24 motor. Apparently the same as L24. It fits but the solenoid just touches the block. Going to spin it 180 and see how it goes, it has no nose cone. Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
There were two styles. 240zx which won't work and those on the D21 Hardbody which will. I think you may find that it hits the dipstick tube. Quote Link to comment
