Parts availability for different models

A good friend of mine's son really likes early/mid 80s japanese trucks and has his eye on an 83 Datsun 720 4x4. For those of your that have 80-84 model trucks how difficult is it to find parts for them and are any of those year models more difficult than others? I am very familiar with the 85-86 models but am not sure how many parts are shared between mine and the older models. Doesn't really matter too much about what is shared between them really, the bigger issue is are the parts available for the older models?

 

I know when I look around for used ones I typically find more 85 models for sale than the older ones. Part of that may be because the beds rusted off so many of the older ones that they ended up getting scrapped lol.

I am a member of quite of few private Nissan sites that have a boat load of parts for sale.You may be able to find them sites on your Facebook and join them.You are right Powder finger, 85 and 86 parts are pretty much plentiful,but some are not.I can't send their pages cause it may just show a pic and nothing else.Right now,their are 2 brush guards for sale,one with a wench.

Thanks Thomas, I am aware of this guy. I wish he didn't live on the other side of the country from me lol. He has had a few things before that I would be interested in if he was driving distance from me but there is no chance I am paying for shipping on a brush guard lol. Plus he asks a premium for a lot of the things he sells.

Yeah,you are right,he is in Oregon.A zillion miles from me,he wants a lot for the brush guards,I am not a fan of having one on my 720.I was gong to buy 2 rubber seals for my king cab side windows.But something told me not too.I did ask about the price and he wanted 140 plus shipping.He wants 800 for the one with the wench and 400 for the one with the lights.So Datsundirect,Here is the price list and I messaged him to see if it's still for sale.You can see if he will go lower on the price.

Thanks, but no need. Like I said a couple of posts up. I am on the same group and I have talked to him before. There is just no way I am paying to ship one of those across the country. I have a brush guard that someone cut the bottom pieces that attach to the frame off of and had it only mounted to the bumper for some reason. At some point I'll mock it up and make some new pieces for the bottom and weld them on. Just haven't gotten to it yet.
