If you have pre '78 it has drum brakes all round. They need to be adjusted properly first before looking at other causes. When adjusting, look for leaks. If the master has gone dry or very low you may have pumped air into the system and it will need bleeding to remove. '78 and up 620s use front disc brakes so only the rears need to be adjusted. Be sure to adjust the parking brake too.

 

This should bring back that firm pedal.
