Squatch
Basically the title. After looking for ages I found a really clean 1985 dataun 720 4wd for sale that has a blown head gasket. I also already own a 1981 datsun diesel 720 2wd that runs and drives but the floor boards are literally falling apart and isn't to safe for the road. Just seeing if the sd22 would swap easy into a gas 85 720. Thanks Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
No, not at all easy. Diesel oil pan will never fit the 4x4 and there were no 4x4 diesels. For $30 change the head gasket on the Z24... has enough torque for the heavy 4x4 also. Quote Link to comment
620slodat
I don't know about the pan, but the engine mounts are in a different location. The different location of the engine mounts possibly can be overcome by moving the mounts, but the difference in the pan won't be as easy. Don Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
wayno would know about the mounts. They would likely need to be cut off the frame and moved. What about swapping the cab and box from the other truck onto your diesel? Quote Link to comment
Squatch
That would be the easier route I think. But I'm not gonna pay 4k for a cab...I just keep looking for a cab then. That would be the best. Do you know anyone on here with a 720 cab? I'm also looking for a sd22 radiator if you know of anyone. Quote Link to comment
