ByStickel
Saw a Diesel 5-speed trans for sale and wondered if those are L-series compatible. And what the internal ratios may be, wide or close ratio. Didn't immediately find what I needed on the webs. Thanks! Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
The Maxima diesels were all automatics. If it actually IS from a Maxima it's an L series mid ratio with a 3.321 first gear as opposed to a 3.592 wide and a 3.062 close. If it actually IS a diesel 5 speed then from a 720 truck.... aaaaand the starter is on the driver's side. It will be a wide ratio but fits the SD series engines and not the L series... but... If you have an L series 71B 4 or 5 speed front case you could swap that on and convert it. Ask what side the starter is on. If on the right side get a picture of the top front taken from the rear. 1 Quote Link to comment

Actually diesel maxima came 5 speed too. Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
Yes my mistake. Mid ratio for sure for gas or diesel. Quote Link to comment
