erclarks
I have a 85 720 4x4 with 15 inch wheels. I recently had a 84 720 4x2 with 14 wheels. I sold the 4x2 84 and still have the snow tires from that vehicle. I don't want to buy new 15 inch snow tires to run on the 85. Can I run the 85 4x4 720 truck with smaller wheels without screwing something up? The 14 in wheels fit that lug pattern for the 85. Quote Link to comment
bottomwatcher
As long as the tires are all the same size you are fine. The speedo will be off but you won't be damaging anything. Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
14 or 15 inch rims don't matter. What does matter is the diameter of the wheels. 15" 4x4 tires by the manual should be 215/75R15 (27.7" diameter) but without checking there's no way to know what someone may have put on there that is close. 14" 2x4 tires by the manual should be 195/75R14 or 205/75R14 (25.5" and 26.1" diameter) depending on the option. Again no way to know for sure without checking The rim size does not have anything to do with the tire diameter. A 235/75R14" tire diameter is the same as the 215/75R15" tire diameter on the 4x4. On the face of it it's unlikely they will work. You'll have to check them and see. Quote Link to comment
