frankendat
Memory is the first to go, but I remember a discussion on which year truck beds were superior, something about double wall/single wall, strength, rust. Anyone know the answer or remember the discussion? Thank you Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
Probably the '85-'86 720. All other years has a welded seam along the sides where the top and bottom and the bed meet. The '85-'86 is one piece and seamless no where for rust to start. All years has a front to back side inner liner that only came up to the top of the wheel well. Tailgates had an inner skin lining. frankendat
The PO installed one of those plastic bed liners and there is more rust than anticipated. Weighing options, if, after cutting out the rust and welding in patches, I'm still left with a problem bed, the choice seems clear. Maybe my memory of single wall bed construction vs. double wall was comparison of a 720 bed with a 620 or a D21? Thank you for getting back to me. Quote Link to comment
