LDoubt
Have to replace the radiator on my little 76 Datsun 710 It's an l20b but it's auto Is there an after market radiator? I just see ones on eBay for manual transmission Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
You can use a manual radiator and connect the auto transmission cooling lines to an after market cooler. https://www.americanvolt.com/products/6-row-heavy-duty-engine-towing-transmission-oil-cooler-kit-universal-auto There are dozens of different kinds. 1 Quote Link to comment
Stoffregen Motorsports
Aftermarket coolers are mostly designed to be used in conjunction with a radiator heat exchanger, so make sure you get one with enough capacity. Tube and fin coolers are generic supplement coolers. Stacked plate coolers are best, but costly. There are others that will work, but when in doubt, call the manufacturer for specific specs. datzenmike
Agree, larger is better. I couldn't get an auto rad. Cut a condenser coil and fins from an air conditioner and put it on my Dodge Omni, drove it across Canada. I cut a Datsun rad open once to see what the cooler looked like inside. Expected a moonshine coil of copper tubing. To my surprise it was a single short pipe connecting the two inlet pipes together. In effect about 6" of pipe surrounded by coolant. Can't believe that it does so much. Quote Link to comment
