720 Torsion bar question

Is there a rule of thumb or a spec for how much of the splines of the torsion bar are supposed to show as it comes out of the torque arm? I replaced my lower control arm bushings and when I reinstalled the torsion bars (after cleaning them all nice) I see that I have 1/2" of splines showing on one side and 5/8" on the other. They were dirty before so I didn't take note of how much of the splines showed.

I have never paid attention to the splines.  I always clean the splines and the bracket real good and grease well before assembly.  I put the "C" clip back on and let the torsion bar settle into place while driving.
