L20b to a l16 4 speed trans?

Hi everybody this might have been answered but I'm having a difficult time finding it. So I just picked up a l20b from a 1976 610 wagon and i was wondering if you can just bolt up a l16 4 speed onto it? Or do you need to do something differently? Thanks everyone!

All L series transmissions will bolt to all other L series engines, though some would be questionable. Yes if putting an L20B into your 510 the original 4 speed will bolt right up.

 

That said...

 

The L20B must have it's own flywheel, the L16 flywheel won't fit on the L20B.

If the L20B was an automatic you will also need to install a pilot bushing in the end of the crankshaft.

If the L20B is from a 610 you can use it's flywheel and clutch, although you could use the L16 clutch I would replace with one for an L20B engine and get the matching release bearing collar that goes with it..

Car flywheels have a 200mm clutch face. If it has a clutch still on it and it looks good you can run it. Try to get the matching release bearing collar on the clutch arm, if you can. It's matched to that clutch.
