Did it just start doing this or gradually got worse, or you don't know because you just bought it.

When warmed up is the choke fully off or open or on still and closed?

So... it was warmed up and you had to open it???? So then the answer was it was closed?

Was there any change from doing this?

This was with the engine warmed up"

Did you take for a drive and it run better? Did it idle better. Any change?

Well what I would do now is (engine off) move the choke open and closed many times while holding the throttle open about 1/3 and watch what moves. Then spray WD-40 all over the moving parts and move them all by hand to clean, lubricate and loosen them.

Tomorrow when the engine is cold watch the choke flap and have someone step on the throttle. What you should see is the choke flap snap closed. Start and warm up for 10 min. What you should see is the choke open fully. This is the normal operation of the choke. If it isn't, then some thing need to be checked and adjusted.
