Rotten_Rods
How much trouble am I looking at when swapping from gas to diesel in my 4wd 720 Datsun. Has anyone heard of swapping with a 4FB1 out of a chevette? Quote Link to comment

datzenmike
If this was an SD22 diesel 720 already....maybe, but they were never used in a 4x4. Fix the L20B. Quote Link to comment

Rotten_Rods
This might sound dumb, but what about swapping a Z22 into my 4x4 720. Would the trani matchup? Quote Link to comment
Rotten_Rods
I have a 2wd 720 with a z22 in it. Though it might have a blown head gasket. Almost chocolate milk fluid sprayed all over the driver side firewall. Plus white smoke. I just received my full gasket set. I’ve yet to open up the engine to check if it’s a cracked block or blown head gasket. Any else I should do while the engine open? Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
All you need is a $30 NAPA head gasket right now. Find out how to block the timing chain to prevent the tensioner from falling out BEFORE yo remove the cam sprocket. The exhaust can be unbolted and left in the car but I would disconnect everything on the intake and remove the head with it on it. Quote Link to comment
