Bkcris13
Looking for complete kit for a 86’ z24.. anybody know where to get them? Or what carb would be good? Also what size cam? Small upgrades nothing extreme... maybe like a 248? 1 Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
ttt The Z series head is a performance evolutionary dead end I'm afraid. The head does not lend itself to performance increases very well. Instead of an expensive intake and carbs that the poorly designed head can't use effectively, just get a new Weber down draft for it. A 32/36 is good on the medium side and a 38/38 a bit extreme. Headers are a total wast of time on this engine as it's never going to be revving where a header will gain you anything. Again, just go to a larger turbo style muffler. Not one of those straight through fart cannons, a turbo muffler that has sound absorbing packing in it. This will get you as much as a header... more at lower speeds. The stock cam is rated at 248 degrees duration but does not specify a lash setting. Most cam makers say @0.050". I don't know what a Nissan 248 cam is in comparison but probably much less than the one you are looking at. Extending the duration and overlap will force the power up into that area where the head's ability to breath is very limited so go conservatively here. Also (again) because of head design the valve lift is limited as the valves will touch each other if too high. 1 Quote Link to comment

Stoffregen Motorsports
A complete KA24E swap will cost you twice as much as a dual carb setup for your Z motor, and will make more HP. Best to go with EFI. 1 Quote Link to comment
