Any updates on this?  I am having a similar issue with mine.  What size exhaust are you running?  I've been told that too big of an exhaust will cause backfiring or a popping noise through the exhaust due to a lack of back pressure.  Mine has a hooker header to 2.5 tube with at straight through magnaflow.

Last visit Sept 10.

He goooan.

I assume the exhaust? Loud rumbling on deceleration? or explosive bangs?

All cars will make a rumbling sound on deceleration but removing the muffler and putting a straight through on will make something normal, suddenly LOUDER. Restriction as in pipes and muffler is what quiets the exhaust. Try a turbo muffler.

Yeah, I'm thinking about dropping down to 2" off the header with a different muffler.  It is too damn loud as it is.  What I have was more for just the initial fire up and break in just to get her up and running.  Next thing to do is either find a Z20 dizzy or find someone to recurve my Z24 dizzy.
