veryboard Posted November 2, 2008 Report Share Posted November 2, 2008 Does anyone know why the dual points distributor on the L16 engines cannot be converted to Electronic ignition.The conversion kits say single point only,I have a kit that says the same but looks like it would fit in my dual point dist.Anyone have any imput on this,why these kits will not work,or maybe will. slodat Posted November 2, 2008 Report Share Posted November 2, 2008 If you are talking about pertronix, the pertronix module will not bolt onto the dual point distributor's breaker plate. It does not work. You must use a single point distributor. That's it. Quote Link to comment

The plate in the Pertronix does not line up(srew holes) amd the magnet ring doesnt fit on the lobes(loose just spins on there). For some reason the lobes are smaller. YOu need a L16 single points dizzy so it fits with your L16 pedastal timming plate adjuster set up. L20 single points can be made to work if the Ring above the point lobe is machined off and use the L20 pedastal timming plate set up. Quote Link to comment
