datzenmike
Has manual choke... is it on during start???? If accelerator pump works and if fires then the idle circuit should sustain it and keep it running. Check the idle cut solenoid. (don't start) Turn ignition ON OFF ON OFF and you should hear a soft clicking from the solenoid if it's electrically connected. Quote Link to comment
68dat77
what do i look for on the dist. shaft? Solenoid is working. Using jumper wire and external fuel source. Is there a way to check the idle circuit? When i pump it it'll continue trying to fire up. Quote Link to comment
racerx
If it has too much play. Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
The solenoid may be clicking which only means it's wired up. I was hoping it wasn't, as this would be the problem. Gas may still not be getting to the idle circuit even if the solenoid is working. Is the choke closed when you are trying to start it??? Quote Link to comment
68dat77
yes its a manual choke so i close it all the way, dist. looks new, no extra play. Coil did get hot when i had the jumper wire on. Quote Link to comment
