B210ratsun
So I was driving the b210 around last night and the gauges cut out on me and the charge dash light came on. So I pulled over took a look at the fuses and everything looked fine. Drove it about 3 blocks more and at a stop sign I drove away leaving a sizeable cloud of smoke. The car ran fine until I got it home and this morning I took a closer look at the fuse block and 13-14 is fried and melted some of the fuse block. I would post a picture but photosuckit says I can't. https://imgur.com/gallery/a7aVh Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
Get a replacement fuse box, there's no way to fix this. Tarnish on the fuse clips equals resistance and this will generate heat, enough to melt the plastic box. Quote Link to comment
B210ratsun
Ordered today, thanks datzenmike. Quote Link to comment
dat521gatherer
Ordered from where? The wires are soldered to the fuse box they don't just unplug. Quote Link to comment
B210ratsun
AngliaGT is going to cut a good one out of a scrap b210 he is parting out and ship it to me on Monday. But I also bought one off eBay just in case. Both will have about 6 in. of wire so I should be able to cut and rewire with little to no issues. (Fingers crossed) Quote Link to comment
Dguy210
Switching to relay driven lights will help here. Most of the amperage that causes this fuse to fail is due to running the head lights. Quote Link to comment
B210ratsun
Good to know but strange that it failed considering the car does not get driven at night and the lights are almost never turned on. They were not on when it fried itself. What else is hooked to that fuse besides the gauges and lights? Do you have a wire diagram I can follow to hook up relay driven lights? Quote Link to comment
dat521gatherer
I have two on mine that have been melted and bypassed. I never bothered to remember which ones they were but they were next to each other. Makes me curious now as to which ones they are. Quote Link to comment
