Mike Phillips
Tried the headlights on my 1974 Datsun today with the engine running. Lights work good on high beam, blinker switch pushed forward. Lights work if you wiggle the blinker switch when pulled back into normal position. Can here a headlight relay or something in the engine compartment clicking when I wiggle the blinker handle. No blinkers. No rear tail lights or brake lights. Front park lights do work. All fuses in the fuse box test good. Quote Link to comment
fisch
I know it is so basic it isn't worth mentioning, but have you pulled the headlights and looked at the wiring? I did and found massive rodent nests and sure enough they had chewed some of the wires. Quote Link to comment
ppeters914
Yeah, 90-percent of the time it's loose and/or corroded connections. Not surprising in our aging vehicles. Starting at the lights, disassemble, clean, reassemble, test. Keep going until they work. And dielectric grease is your friend. Quote Link to comment
yello620
I am betting that the contacts inside of your signal switch are worn. These worn contacts will effect your signals/brake lights and your high/low beam functions. Edited October 30, 2008 by yello620 Quote Link to comment
