sdsurf
I noticed the other day after letting my truck ('70 pl521) idle that the level of gas in my carb had creeped above the float line level. This is the stock hitachi carb. The truck is not in driving condition I had just let it idle for about 15-20 minutes. WHen I first started it the level was right at the float line. What or why would it fill up more? Quote Link to comment
OL YELLER
check the needle at the float tang...could be worn and allowing gas to leak by, replace it if you can find a rebuild kit Quote Link to comment
Nicholas7620
Change your gas filter(s), It doesn't take much dirt to screw up your float. It your truck has been sitting then you should get some Heet in your gas tank to soak up and burn off any water that may have condensed in your gas tank. Quote Link to comment
dat521gatherer
check it by tapping on it with a hammer. this will usually make the valve seat seal and the fuel level go back to normal. this is not a fix but a test. tap on the bolt/needle seat valve that the fuel line attaches to while it's running. sdsurf
I have a rebuild kit but all it contains is gaskets. Should I do this and clean out all of the jets with carb spray. At least I can remove the 37 yrs of gunk accumulated. Quote Link to comment

datzenmike
Connect the choke to any fuse that is switched on with the ignition. Quote Link to comment
