ELSOBDatsun
I have some steering play and bump steering issues... any suggestions? Quote Link to comment
Draker
You can adjust the lash in the steering gear. But it won't help too much if it's just worn out. That's a good place to start though. 1 Quote Link to comment
Draker
Most likely you have steering bushing worn out too. You'll just have to get it in the air and look at the all the bushings. Quote Link to comment
ELSOBDatsun
Thanks, I got a new idler arm, and I'll replace what needs to be... and get back to you. Quote Link to comment
DanielC
Check the kingpins. With the truck parked, push and pull on the top of the front tires. There should be very little noticeable movement. It will give a little, but if you hear or feel a clunk, or a bit of free movement, that is not good. 521 truck have manual steering, and I think about a 19 to 1 ratio in the steering gear box. A quarter inch of play in the linkage puts about 4 1/2 inches of movement in the steering wheel. Quote Link to comment
