Check the kingpins.   With the truck parked, push and pull on the top of the front tires.  There should be very little noticeable movement.  It will give a little, but if you hear or feel a clunk, or a bit of free movement, that is not good.

 

521 truck have manual steering, and I think about a 19 to 1 ratio in the steering gear box.  A quarter inch of play in the linkage puts about 4 1/2 inches of movement in the steering wheel.
